Jim Van Geldren Revival Meetings: post 8!!

The last post for the Jim Van Gelderen Revival Meetings.

So tonight Dr. Van Gelderen preached on Romans chapter 7, all about us as christians saying "no" to God and "yes" our flesh.

First, the consequences:
1) There is a deadening effect spiritually, when we say no to God and yes to our flesh.
2) "sold under sin"; There is a bondage that comes when we say not to God and yes to our flesh

Second, The Silver Lining:
1) "I'm weak, and I am always weak"
2) "He [God] is strong and he will always be strong" (the answer in Romans 7:25 and Philippians 4:13)

The Point: In our weakness, to trust God in His strength.

It was a really awesome message, but I'm still sad that revival has to be over and the team has to leave. : ( Mike playing the piano was kind of like having Ryan back for a week. : )

Still, the Lord worked in hearts (mine especially) and it was amazing to see. : )

Jim Van Gelderen Revival Meetings: post 7!!

So
Last night was the teen rally night--AND IT WAS AWESOME!!!

The night started off with games and fun stuff, then we did the pizza part....

we...only....ordered...ten...pizzas...and we had over 40 kids!! So then we had to order ten more pizza from pizza hut. I felt bad for Mike, he had to drive out and get all of them, and then when he got back to the church, he had to leave again right away to the other ten pizzas we had just ordered!! : )

Anyway--Nate took all 40+ kids to the teen room (haha) and then some of the college kids (and me and Bryce) did a skit for them whil they ate. There was NO pizza left last night.

Nate ended the night with a message from God's Word and 6 teens went for counselling!! I'm not sure how many actually got saved, but it was just awesome to see the Lord work. : )

I'm sorry I didn't post last night, I'm not feeling good as I said earlier.

Tonight will be our last service!! : (

Jim Van Gelderen Revival Meetings: post 4!!

SO tonights message was good.

Dr. Van Gelderen talked about three things:
1) The Object of Victory
2) The Obstacles of Victory and
3) The Overcoming of Victory

It was really good-- for me especially was the part when he talked about praising God, even before you see the results of what you prayed for. And thats a toughie, for me. But it was a great message.

: )

Jim Van Geldren Revival Meetings: post 3!!

SO, okay- i have to admit that the night did NOT start out right...

Right before i left, there was a bit of friction between my mom and I. But the Lord worked, nontheless.

Dr. Van Geldren preached on "Satan's Sifting of the Saints." All about how Satan will throw doubts our way, whether it's about our witnessing efforts, suffering, whatever!! The Lord really got me when Dr. Van Geldren started talking about witnessing. About us believing John 4:35, that talks about the fields being "white unto harvest", and about souls being ready to be saved, but we don't go into it EXPECTING to REALLY see souls reached for Christ.

And of course there were other aspects to his sermon, but thats what really struck me.

Tomorrow I'm going canvassing with Nate and Querubim, down near that McDonalds by the high school. I'll let you know how that goes. : )

Jim Van Geldren Revival Meetings: post 2!!

SO...

Today the Van Geldren team came and we got to spend time with them for the first time.

Dr. Jim Van Geldren preached two grrrrreat sermons for both the morning and evening services, and the Lord worked.....as we prayed He would... I suppose i just didn't think he would start with me.

Dr. Jim Van Geldren preached tonight on the "least commandments", and focused quite a bit of his sermon on our entertainment choices. Can anyone guess what i'm going to say??

Yes, that's right- Psych.. and NCIS. So I've made the decision to cut them out of my life...for permanent. And it's going to be SUPER-tough, but I'm committed to doing this for the Lord.

And the girl we're hostings name is Elizabeth, or more commonly known as "Tizzy". : )

Yah-so shes SUPER-cool. : )

Jim Van Geldren Revival Meetings: post 1

So begins the "Jim Van Geldren Revival Meetings" posts.

Let's being with how I am involved..well, me AND my family:
1) We are hosting the only female non-family team member
2) my contribution to us hosting the only female non-family team memer-as you may have guessed she will be sleeping in MY room, in MY bed. And, no- i'm not complaining. I'm looking forward to getting to know her (hopefully).... this is the reason I am washing my sheets and pillow cases and comforter. I'm sure she'll be appreciative>
3) We're feeding them at some point during the week. AND, we get to eat WITH them. Tres cool.
4) Is there a fourth?? I can't think of one...

oh well!
Thus ends post 1 of the Jim Van Geldren Revival Meetings posts! : )
