I am looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.comBlogger295125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-15550589307824370842014-07-29T18:02:00.003-05:002014-07-29T18:02:54.137-05:00A Little Something About My Weekend. Plus, Some Makeup StuffWhy, hello there! I know, I'm sorry I abandoned you this weekend. I was busy working my tail off, I assure you! Super busy at work with some girl's softball tournament in town and terrifically terrible tippers (alliteration, hooray!). Just kidding, only some of them tipped poorly. Regardless, I have a cool story for you all!<br />
<br />
So Friday was pretty much incredibly awful. I had two tables with large-ish bills that didn't tip me, and most everyone who DID tip me, did a pretty poor job of it (most of them were under 10%). Gag. Anyway, I had a table of two teenagers over dinner. Both ordered steaks, plus an appetizer to take home and sodas- grand total, around $50 (I know that may not seem like much, but considering I did about $640 in sales that day, that's around 8% of my sales). We had a great thing going, these two kids and I. They appreciated my sound effects and the fact that I made sure the kitchen was very careful with their steak (the young man had a sever food allergy). So when they left no tip on the table I was flabbergasted. And irritated. I KNOW I gave great service, we had a great rapport, they told me several times how great the food was, so what was the deal? Of course, I whined about it for the rest of the night and on into the early morning hours. Oh well, tough luck, it happens.<br />
<br />
THE NEXT DAY. I come into work for my evening shift, ready to make this night better than the last. About an hour into my shift this is dropped off at the hostess stand for me...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w-FHTyknT7I/U9gjx18-TUI/AAAAAAAAAxw/l_1QjIR2RQ0/s1600/letter+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w-FHTyknT7I/U9gjx18-TUI/AAAAAAAAAxw/l_1QjIR2RQ0/s1600/letter+1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9b2o0aqvL_E/U9gj3zHDOlI/AAAAAAAAAx4/7MLTLkz68T0/s1600/letter+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9b2o0aqvL_E/U9gj3zHDOlI/AAAAAAAAAx4/7MLTLkz68T0/s1600/letter+2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Enclosed was a ten dollar bill. And I was completely blown away. I mean, people stiff servers tips all the time. Mostly because they don't care. But this guy did. He totally cared. He cared enough to apologize, and write this lovely note and drive it to our restaurant and throw some cash in for good measure. Who does things like that anymore?! I was more than a little touched and it certainly made my weekend. My faith in humanity is restored, at least temporarily. Until someone forgets to tip me again. Haha! Just kidding! Not really. Please tip your server. At least 15%. This is our paycheck. That is all.<br />
<br />
And in other news! If you know me at all, you know that I am a makeup junkie! More specifically, a mascara junkie. I'm constantly buying mascara, just waiting to find that one tube of glorious black goop that will give me Kardashian-esque lashes without all that glue and falsies nonsense. So my internet trolling led me to Sephora.com. Where you can, in fact, purchase mini versions of certain products and give them a go! I figured this might be my opportunity to try something I've been wanting to try for quite some time (if only to see what all the hype is about).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9LnT1zXu_Jc/U9gmhOLZ57I/AAAAAAAAAyE/3tLjlD-Kya8/s1600/they're+real.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9LnT1zXu_Jc/U9gmhOLZ57I/AAAAAAAAAyE/3tLjlD-Kya8/s1600/they're+real.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Mmmm, mascara. Benefit They're Real! mascara has been on my must-try list for forever! I've read countless reviews and most of what I've read has been positive, but I just have to find out for myself. I ordered my happy little .14 oz version today (plus 3 free samples you get to pick when you check out- how cool is that?!), so sometime late this week I'll have my first makeup review! Eek! How exciting! :)<br />
<br />
So what are you guys up to this week? I actually don't close this Saturday or Sunday, so hopefully I can get some stuff up for you guys on what I'm working on right now (hint: it's a gift, from myself, to myself). Ta ta for now! Happy Tuesday!<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-23807943105270487932014-07-23T23:58:00.001-05:002014-07-23T23:58:23.941-05:00What I'm Obsessing Over This WeekHey you guys! I've got a little obsession post here for ya! Maybe a little late, but better late than never, right?<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.xovain.com/hair/what-you-need-to-know-before-you-get-bangs" target="_blank">This</a> post on <a href="http://www.xovain.com/" target="_blank">XO Vain</a>. As we all know, I'm trying to decide what to do with my bangs, so I'm reading and re-reading this article by Alle. Definitely helpful if you're wondering what to do about your bangs!</li>
<li>Watching pretty much EVERY show on the <a href="http://www.history.com/" target="_blank">History Channel</a>. Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Ice Road Truckers. It seems like it's non-stop lately. In a good way. More or less.</li>
<li>Emily from <a href="http://www.freckled-fox.com/p/hair-beauty_4.html" target="_blank">The Freckled Fox</a> and her hair tutorials! I kinda wanna try every. Single. One.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.modcloth.com/shop/coats/swell-read-trench" target="_blank">The Swell Read Trench</a> from Modcloth. So pretty and ladylike and classy!</li>
<li><a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/emeril-lagasse/tequila-lime-sauce-recipe.html" target="_blank">This recipe</a>. I might have to bust this out soon and see if it's as good as the dish I had at Applebee's a few months ago. Mmmm, so yummy.</li>
</ul>
<div>
I think I'm kind of all over the place this week, but it's been a while, so it seems to make sense. I think. AND I'm so so ready for fall, you guys! I love summer and the heat and all, but summer up here in Wisconsin is NOT the same as summer down south. There's just no substitute. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What about you lovelies! What's on your brains as this week draws to a close?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Much love always!</div>

Be Jealous.Hello there my darlings! I got out of work a wee bit early today, so guess what I got to do? Nap! And exercise! Woohoo! :) I feel so great when I get to work out, I should really be more consistent. Tips, anyone, for staying motivated?<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anywho, I know I promised a baking post today, so here ya go! Now no-bakes have been a staple in my family for a long time. My great grandmother made them for me when I was a kid, my grandmother made them every time I came to visit when I was young, my mom made them because she looooves peanut butter (don't we all?), and I make them because they're probably my favorite cookie in the entire world! This recipe is big secret (I like to think it's a big secret) so be sure to write this down!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
4 Cups white sugar</div>
<div>
6 Tablespoons cocoa</div>
<div>
1 Cup milk</div>
<div>
11 Tablespoons butter</div>
<div>
1/4 Teaspoon salt</div>
<div>
4 Cups quick oats</div>
<div>
3 Cups peanut butter</div>
<div>
1 Teaspoon vanilla</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Combine sugar, cocoa, milk, butter and salt in pan. Place over heat. Bring to a hard boil for THREE MINUTES. This part is important. Any longer and they won't set up properly, any less and they'll be dry and crumbly. Time it! Remove from heat. Add peanut butter and vanilla. Stir until peanut butter is well combined. Add oats. Drop onto wax paper, or paper grocery bag. Let set until cool.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XqehvRzaK8k/U89CTlnDQJI/AAAAAAAAAxA/PD71LfS_HAQ/s1600/nobakes+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XqehvRzaK8k/U89CTlnDQJI/AAAAAAAAAxA/PD71LfS_HAQ/s1600/nobakes+5.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Sugar mixture in pan</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>THAT is a hard boil, folks.</i></div>
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Settling cookies, I like mine big.</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Mmmm! Look at that yummy goodness!</div>
<div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Don't you wish you were here? Well, if you're in town on Thursday you can buy some at the bake sale! Or just make your own at home. :) I only work the morning again tomorrow, so I might do some sewing, depending on how motivated I am. Send some positive energy my way and maybe I'll get there.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What are you guys up to on this hump day? Any fun and exciting projects?</div>
<div>

Today was my day off, so I baked some cookies and watched some t.v. and redid this nifty little picture frame!<br />
<br />
Now this frame is SUPER cheap, as in it doesn't even have a stand on the back to prop the frame up. Before this little redo it was sort a lovely muddy brown with a gold stripe around the edges. Tell me about it- super fashionable. Nothing a little paint and glitter can't fix!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CqE065PcLy0/U830GZ-SvEI/AAAAAAAAAwg/bb-PhXh0ERw/s1600/frame+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CqE065PcLy0/U830GZ-SvEI/AAAAAAAAAwg/bb-PhXh0ERw/s1600/frame+1.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UGQUZU_wdhA/U830JeWqbOI/AAAAAAAAAwo/incctpa0f5c/s1600/frame+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UGQUZU_wdhA/U830JeWqbOI/AAAAAAAAAwo/incctpa0f5c/s1600/frame+2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zjUbivBZoxw/U830NF0terI/AAAAAAAAAww/b6fY6p9Jlts/s1600/frame+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zjUbivBZoxw/U830NF0terI/AAAAAAAAAww/b6fY6p9Jlts/s1600/frame+3.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
A little coat of white paint, some Mod Podge and some glitter and soooo much better! :) I have more than a few picture frames around the apartment that are... less than pretty. To say the least. Maybe it's time for a makeover for all!<br />
<br />
Anywho, tomorrow I'll be working in the morning, but in the evening time I'll be making another batch of cookies for that charity bake sale I mentioned last week, so check back for a baking post! And get excited, because I'm sharing an old family recipe for which you will be forever grateful! :) Happy Tuesday, darlings!<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!<br />
P.s. I'm thinking of doing a little giveaway, what do you guys think? Give me your thoughts in the comments!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-80232375208240419022014-07-20T02:33:00.002-05:002014-07-20T02:33:44.380-05:00More Glasses Talk. Are You Sick Of It Yet?Hi folks! I had a super dope night at work, as usual, but a late night to be sure. So just a short post tonight!<br />
<br />
Remember all that glasses talk from a few weeks ago. If you do, then you know that I'm on the hunt for the perfect pair of cats eye glasses. It's a toughie, because even though lots of glasses makers have hopped on the vintage/retro inspired train, finding the right shape, width, height, color, etc takes hours of trolling the interwebs. So I was on Pinerest today, doing it up, and I realized that I completely forgot about one of my favorite bloggers and her TO DIE FOR glasses.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LlKKYJhfipk/U8tubIPedsI/AAAAAAAAAwE/TJo0RZ9wrnk/s1600/keiko+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LlKKYJhfipk/U8tubIPedsI/AAAAAAAAAwE/TJo0RZ9wrnk/s1600/keiko+1.jpg" height="312" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Keiko Lynn! The picture is taken from <a href="http://www.keikolynn.com/2012/06/makeup-monday-girls-who-wear-glasses.html" target="_blank">this</a> post on her blog (which is freaking amazing, by the way. If you haven't gotten over there yet, PLEASE do. She's incredible.). I followed all of her little linksies and found the glasses!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-deFcXOIxLOw/U8tvuiAuueI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/f9sN1eIV380/s1600/ray+ban+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-deFcXOIxLOw/U8tvuiAuueI/AAAAAAAAAwQ/f9sN1eIV380/s1600/ray+ban+1.jpg" height="207" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
Now, <a href="http://www.ray-ban.com/usa/eyeglasses/RX5226-rb5226-black/805289432814" target="_blank">these</a> are Ray Bans... In other words, more than a wee bit expensive for a watiressing girl like me. Maybe with some profitable weekends and saving up some money I can afford them (or maybe they'll see this post and I'll get my first sponsor!), but we'll see! If you guys have any other super neat places to find cat eye glasses, let me know!<br />
<br />
That's all for now, loves! The second batch of colored glass jars is in the oven and I get to work another late night tomorrow. How are you guys finishing up your weekend? :)<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-66363804224954716522014-07-19T01:13:00.001-05:002014-07-19T01:13:02.589-05:00Colored Glass Coolness!Howdy lovelies! Happy Saturday! Guess who gets to spend another Saturday at work? *Gestures to self* This girl! Color me all kinds of excited. I'm hoping you guys have better plans than I do this weekend. Honestly, one of these days I'm going to take an ENTIRE weekend off and just...do nothing. Just kidding! I will take the weekend off sometime soon and just do WHATEVER I WANT. :)<br />
<br />
Anywho, as soon as I got home from work, I popped my glass jars into the oven. And wow!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UY7nhPJfEZk/U8oI_TnAg9I/AAAAAAAAAvg/Jj38g4Iyu8o/s1600/colored+glass+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UY7nhPJfEZk/U8oI_TnAg9I/AAAAAAAAAvg/Jj38g4Iyu8o/s1600/colored+glass+1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ITTqP0oswsQ/U8oJD_ndfAI/AAAAAAAAAvo/s2hLRy9l4zw/s1600/colored+glass+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ITTqP0oswsQ/U8oJD_ndfAI/AAAAAAAAAvo/s2hLRy9l4zw/s1600/colored+glass+2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I love it! They look super gorgeous. Now, for sure, the color definitely changed from the way it looked when it was freshly poured into the jar, but soooo pretty. I already have another batch in the works for tomorrow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oUoJagbOOWY/U8oKiC2m_YI/AAAAAAAAAv0/v31D2aPmEgw/s1600/colored+glass+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oUoJagbOOWY/U8oKiC2m_YI/AAAAAAAAAv0/v31D2aPmEgw/s1600/colored+glass+3.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I killed off an entire bottle of Mod Podge and I'm running out of glass containers, so until I get that figured out I'll have to come up with some other projects! What do you guys think, any ideas? I'm on Pinterest so I always see nifty things on there, but oftentimes you have to scroll through tons of pins until you find something you actually want to do. So send some ideas my way! And I'm also making some goodies for a charity bake sale through work this week, so stay tuned for an old family recipe! :)<br />
<br />
Enjoy your Saturday, kids!<br />
<br />

Say 'holla!' if you're ready for the weekend! Just kidding, because, as we all know, I work all weekend! :) But feel free to enjoy some weekend for me while I'm making bank.<br />
<br />
Today was my day off so- hooray!- I did some stuff! The first was to celebrate my little brother's second birthday. Happy birthday Tubs! The second was to craft away! I got some glass jars from my mother earlier this week so I've kind of been on a little glass/glitter/paint spree. Sharing time!<br />

<br />
THERE IS GLITTER EVERYWHERE. And I love it! :) I love the idea of putting candles in there! The next thing I wanted to try was <a href="http://www.momtastic.com/diy/168908-diy-tinted-mason-jars-in-rainbow/" target="_blank">this</a> tutorial for making your own colored glass.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
We're at the letting the glass dry overnight step. I'll stick them in the oven tomorrow night after work and let them do their thing. We'll see how it turns out!<br />
<br />
I know I talked about that denim jacket I've been altering, but now that it's almost done I'm not sure how I'm feeling about it. I'll let you know what I decide to do and I'll show you how my jars turn out- whether it's good or bad! What are you guys up to this weekend? Any fun plans or projects? Please let me live vicariously through you! :)<br />

Welcome to Thursday! :) I have off of work today, so we'll see if I actually get anything done... Don't hold your breath. Seriously. You might die. And I would hate that.<br />
<br />
Anywho! Remember that hair post from the other day? And I mentioned that about 1-2 times a year I find myself debating whether or not I should cut my bangs? Well...after a few consecutive days of New Girl (I believe we call this netflix bingeing?) I am feeling bang-lust.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W_qAxDsHaKg/U8deSX0vYBI/AAAAAAAAAus/Ou9ynBynaPk/s1600/bangs+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W_qAxDsHaKg/U8deSX0vYBI/AAAAAAAAAus/Ou9ynBynaPk/s1600/bangs+1.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
See what I mean!! I miss them. They're so incredible. Ugh. They make topknots cuter, scarves cooler, even ponytails acceptable! I know my hair is a different color right now, but I'm seriously contemplating cutting them into my hair again. I need your help! Do me the biggest favor in the world and leave your thoughts in the comments below!</div>

If you're reading this post, you made it past Monday! Woohoo! Congrats! And the fact that I'm writing this post means I made it through Monday, too! Yay for us! :) Hopefully Tuesday is just as good a day for you as it is for me! I'm doing as best as I can to make today SUPER productive. Sewing and cleaning and whatnot. And blogging. Obviously.<br />
<br />
So! I was bingeing on The Mindy Project last week (and every week) and I really wanted to talk to you guys about something... Umm, in case you didn't know, Mindy Kaling is one of the best things to happen to t.v. Ever.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wm4WTCoeO4Y/U8X74shgIAI/AAAAAAAAAt0/KApE9TJ80hM/s1600/mindy1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wm4WTCoeO4Y/U8X74shgIAI/AAAAAAAAAt0/KApE9TJ80hM/s1600/mindy1.jpg" height="254" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
First of all, she's mega adorable, pretty, cute, etc. And she has great style! Street style and on screen! Mindy Lahiri is by far one of my favorite characters of all time.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XZ1EEW88CKA/U8X89vC-4hI/AAAAAAAAAuA/hmTQXcvucD8/s1600/mindy2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XZ1EEW88CKA/U8X89vC-4hI/AAAAAAAAAuA/hmTQXcvucD8/s1600/mindy2.jpg" height="320" width="187" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dh0gkad9qTk/U8X9B22ON6I/AAAAAAAAAuI/_bhttoVEwTQ/s1600/mindy3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dh0gkad9qTk/U8X9B22ON6I/AAAAAAAAAuI/_bhttoVEwTQ/s1600/mindy3.jpg" height="320" width="232" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
To be honest, I've always taken issue with people idolizing celebrities and making them their role models. But Mindy Kaling is someone I can really get behind. She's the kind of woman I want to be. Successful, smart, pretty, quirky and funny. When I envision my future, I have to say that I wouldn't mind if it looked a lot like Mindy's present day. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mindy Kaling for being so freaking amazing! We adore you!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
What do you guys think? Are you as in love with Mindy as I am? And HELLO, The Mindy Project is back on Fox on September 16th!<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-87060809180354998622014-07-14T23:30:00.002-05:002014-07-14T23:30:43.139-05:00Pull-apart Pizza BreadHI you guys! I missed you all! Sorry for the little hiatus, it was a rough couple of days to say the least. But I'm back! With all kinds of fun stuff coming this week! Hopefully you weren't thrown in to total despair by my absence. And in hopes of garnering your forgiveness- a cooking post!<br />
<br />
I've seen <a href="http://sweetandsimpleliving.com/easy-pull-apart-pizza-bread/" target="_blank">this</a> recipe floating around on Pinterest for a while now, even repinned it (twice), but somehow never got around to making it. In other words I have a really picky fiancee and IF I made it I would be making it just for myself. :) But tonight's the night! I wanted to try a new recipe and this one popped into my head immediately.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JuiovHFf9mQ/U8Ss_-wzYtI/AAAAAAAAAtE/E2Mxr5TSGQA/s1600/bread+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JuiovHFf9mQ/U8Ss_-wzYtI/AAAAAAAAAtE/E2Mxr5TSGQA/s1600/bread+5.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hmaSa1mOq8E/U8StEv9qZtI/AAAAAAAAAtM/olwdlwEAZSM/s1600/bread+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hmaSa1mOq8E/U8StEv9qZtI/AAAAAAAAAtM/olwdlwEAZSM/s1600/bread+4.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I bought the cheapie biscuits that come in a 4 pack at Walmart, but only used 2 of the cans since I was making a smaller version in a loaf pan, instead of the full-size version in a bundt pan. I also subbed in 1 stick of melted butter instead of olive oil because, as usual, I forgot to get it when we went grocery shopping. Go figure!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-suPgWJw7QUc/U8StOi53QLI/AAAAAAAAAtU/U0rS9q08MHA/s1600/bread+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-suPgWJw7QUc/U8StOi53QLI/AAAAAAAAAtU/U0rS9q08MHA/s1600/bread+3.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1cH_h3DVkx8/U8StRlf5acI/AAAAAAAAAtc/uRvlIC1KX_E/s1600/bread+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1cH_h3DVkx8/U8StRlf5acI/AAAAAAAAAtc/uRvlIC1KX_E/s1600/bread+2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Cut up your biscuits and your pepperoni, toss them in a bowl with some mozz, some parmesan and Italian seasoning and pop it in the oven!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wZDanCscuR8/U8StWIkDwKI/AAAAAAAAAtk/GcE_rfDQNlQ/s1600/bread+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wZDanCscuR8/U8StWIkDwKI/AAAAAAAAAtk/GcE_rfDQNlQ/s1600/bread+1.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Serve it up with some pizza sauce and you're super bueno! :)<br />
<br />
Thankfully I have off of work again tomorrow, so I'm hoping to share some sewing posts with you this week! Remember that denim jacket I was supposed to be working on? Yea. I haven't touched it since last week. Yikes! I also haven't fixed my pants or altered my black skirt. Color me all kinds of lazy. I know. Hopefully these last few days have been a bit more productive for you than they have for me! What are you guys up to tonight? And more importantly, what did you have for dinner? Share your favorite recipes down below!<br />

It's almost the end of the week! Hooray! Unless you're like me and you work weekends! Woohoo! :)<br />
<br />
I had off of work today, so I decided to take advantage of it and make it a baking day! Not to mention, Brian and I are having friends over tonight and I can't stand the idea of not having a treat to offer! Chocolate chip cookies it is!<br />
<br />
Now, normally I would scour the internet searching for THE PERFECT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE recipe, follow said recipe, and then be thoroughly disappointed with the not-quite-soft/chewy/fluffy-enough outcome. However, today I wanted to try something different and- gasp!- follow the recipe on the back of my bag of mini Nestle chocolate chips. A daring decision, no doubt, but it was a risk I was willing to take. So I gathered up my supplies (in other words, asked Brian to run to the grocery store because I needed butter and baking soda) and got down to bid-ness.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lK3AjwzPdi4/U78GBnYySzI/AAAAAAAAAs0/BD5hDBPKn3c/s1600/cookies+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lK3AjwzPdi4/U78GBnYySzI/AAAAAAAAAs0/BD5hDBPKn3c/s1600/cookies+2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
(For reference, this is the recipe I followed...)<br />
2 1/4 Cups all purpose flour<br />
1 teaspoon baking soda<br />
1 teaspoon salt<br />
1 Cup of butter, softened (2 sticks)<br />
3/4 Cup white granulated sugar<br />
3/4 Cup packed brown sugar<br />
2 large eggs<br />
1 teaspoon vanilla extract<br />
1 12 oz. bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used the minis)<br />
1/3 Cup chopped nuts, optional (I used pecans)<br />
<br />
Preheat oven to 375. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in bowl and set aside. Combine butter, white and brown sugar and vanilla in bowl and beat until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time and beat until smooth. Gradually beat in flour mixture until fully combined with butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Form in to 1 inch balls, drop onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes. (I put mine in for 10 and that was perfect). Let cool and serve.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1iCqUoQ4YXY/U78F8-OzjEI/AAAAAAAAAss/A4Ce0MVuhTQ/s1600/cookies+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1iCqUoQ4YXY/U78F8-OzjEI/AAAAAAAAAss/A4Ce0MVuhTQ/s1600/cookies+1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Oh. My. Goodness. THESE COOKIES ARE GREAT! Perfect? Eh, that's debatable. But seriously good. Just the right amount of golden crispy-ness on the edges and the bottom, but perfectly chewy and soft in the middle. Perfect cookies for dipping milk. I have to say, this is the first time I think I've ever made chocolate chip cookies without shortening (Crisco) and I wonder if that would've made a differnece? I've also heard that upping the brown sugar to white sugar ratio can soften up your cookies as well. Anybody have thoughts or tips? Leave your comments and your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe in the comments section! I'm off to eat some cookies, take a nap and clean some stuff. :)<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!<br />
p.s. Prepare yourselves- there's an outfit post coming tonight!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-73108656725596726102014-07-07T18:39:00.002-05:002014-07-07T18:39:53.728-05:00Altering A Denim Jacket: Part 1!Hey folks! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend! I spent 97% of mine at work, of course. And I didn't get to see any fireworks! :( Hopefully you all caught some for me.<br />
<br />
And today- a sewing post! Finally! I know, I was slackin'- don't hate me! Anywho, I told you guys about the denim jacket I got at Walmart a few years ago and it was WAY too big for me (curse you, inconsistent Walmart sizing!). Now resizing a garment is tricky (or so I've heard) so I figured I'd share some little things I did with you guys. First, pay attention to the original construction of the garment. Darts, seaming, etc. Anything you change is going to affect the look and shape of the piece.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IwYBxS5knS0/U7suelQaU1I/AAAAAAAAAr0/S8XHZO8l5-k/s1600/jacket+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IwYBxS5knS0/U7suelQaU1I/AAAAAAAAAr0/S8XHZO8l5-k/s1600/jacket+2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
See all those darts! Not to mention the seaming- I took in another 3 inches on each side (you can't really see that from the outside).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-42Db-Eq9ATE/U7suoDNiFMI/AAAAAAAAAr8/H6nGrO4-C9o/s1600/jacket+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-42Db-Eq9ATE/U7suoDNiFMI/AAAAAAAAAr8/H6nGrO4-C9o/s1600/jacket+3.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So much extra! I separated the waist band from the rest of the jacket because I wanted to shorten it a wee bit. After taking in all those inches on the body of the jacket the waist band was obviously too long, but I didn't want to cut the waist band sew it back together, sooo... I decided to snip it in the middle and let the excess overlap. I know, tell me again how lazy I am. Whatever. :)<br />
<br />
Update finished for now! I have darts to put in a skirt, work pants to fix (hole in the inner thigh- the bane of my existence) and friends to meet for dinner! What have you guys been up to? Besides recovering from this past weekend. Any fun and exciting projects?<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-71627907414639562002014-07-05T15:07:00.002-05:002014-07-05T15:07:36.995-05:00La Couleur De Mes Cheveux Hola mis queridos! This is just a quick little post before I head off to work for the night!<br />
<br />
I know I promised to show you guys my new hair color (I'm a little late, I know, I'm sorry!) so I decided to take some pictures of my 'do and how I styled it for work. Being a waitress, I'll have to pull it up before I start working, but I did a little half up half down with a bump. (I love the bump- big hair til I die!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h9lZiIZcHc4/U7havJW_bUI/AAAAAAAAArY/v1nirFB0Bgg/s1600/hair+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h9lZiIZcHc4/U7havJW_bUI/AAAAAAAAArY/v1nirFB0Bgg/s1600/hair+2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VM_roFEU5ug/U7hay4eOwwI/AAAAAAAAArg/dTBhFcjd-ZE/s1600/hair+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VM_roFEU5ug/U7hay4eOwwI/AAAAAAAAArg/dTBhFcjd-ZE/s1600/hair+1.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I really love how the color turned out! I was worried about how it would look when finished, but I'm super pleased. It's a kind of dark red with a burgundy tint. And by the way, I know I mentioned in the other post about my hair washing schedule being roughly every 8-9 days so just for reference, this is day number 6. And I NEVER straighten my hair, so make sure you bookmark this post because you may not see me with straight hair again for a while! :)<br />
<br />
I hope you all had a great fourth of July! I'm thinking about doing a little hair tutorial with my bump+half up half down hairdo. Let me know if that's something you guys would like to see. I get lots of compliments and questions about my hair on a daily basis so I'd love to share with everyone! Leave your thoughts in the comments section! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!<br />
<br />
p.s. Sewing post coming soon! :)Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-56389294242787532742014-07-04T13:00:00.000-05:002014-07-05T22:05:34.486-05:00Obsessed. Like, Mega Obsessed. And Happy Fourth Of July!Hiya lovelies! Happy Birthday, America! Hopefully you're all out enjoying those fireworks tonight. Enjoy some for me, as I will be at work! Yay!<br />
<br />
I know I've mentioned my tendency to go a little... crazy. Get a little... obsessed. :) Maybe more than a little. Which is okay! Healthy (?) even! No judgement here, obsess away.<br />
<br />
This week I'm focused on something- someone- super amazing. Someone I actually forgot I was obsessed with! I'm sure you're all as in love with the phenomenon that is Zooey Deschanel. I mean, come on, who couldn't love this little lady!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Seriously?! Who gets to look like that?! If you've been with this blog for any amount of time, or know me personally, you've seen my 'Zooey Deschanel cut/color' hairdo. She constantly inspires me with those terrific bangs! And her style is to die for.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She's so vintage-y and retro and adorable! To be perfectly honest, she makes me want to wear red, navy and stripes ALL THE TIME. I love stealing little style tidbits from her. It never fails, as soon as I see a picture of her street style or a movie still I inevitably end up trolling Pinterest/Ebay/sewing patterns for anything similar to what she's wearing. Obviously, I'll never be that cute, but I give it my best shot! And I am literally counting down the days until New Girl returns for its fourth season this fall on Fox! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
What do you guys think of Zooey? Is there anyone in particular that you admire? Any big July 4th weekend plans? </div>

Remember that super glued thumb I was talking about? Well that (plus the inherent laziness that comes with the rainy weather) has hampered my sewing abilities- so no sewing post today! Instead I thought I'd give ya another little movie review!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VNq3BzpDH-8/U7TnBCpqnoI/AAAAAAAAAoY/NDMWgR_9_H0/s1600/The-Lego-Movie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VNq3BzpDH-8/U7TnBCpqnoI/AAAAAAAAAoY/NDMWgR_9_H0/s1600/The-Lego-Movie.jpg" height="179" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I don't know about you, but I am ALLLLL about kid's movies. Like, seriously, that is my bizness! :) I was super amped when I saw The Lego Movie had hit theaters, but never got the opportunity to go see it. You can bet your bottom dollar that I rented it the moment it was released and I was so so pleased. Our story gets started with our little Lego man hero, Emmett. Emmett and the rest of his Lego counterparts have been brainwashed into total 'normalcy' by our villain, Lord Business. Emmett is jarred from his ordinary, construction worker life by a group of 'Master Builders' who believe that he is the hero they've been searching for to overthrow Lord Business' evil plan to take over the entire Lego world! Emmett, Wyldstyle, Virtuvius and numerous other master builders (we meet Batman, Wonderwoman and countless others along the way) take us on a non stop adventure through the Lego worlds in their attempt to thwart Lord Business' evil plan. Emmett's story sends a fantastic message about loving and believing in yourself and embracing what makes you special. I loved this movie, and it's definitely one to add your collection- for your internal 9 year old, or your actual 9 year old. :)<br />
<br />
I hope everyone is having a great week! I see lots of views on my posts and whatnot- feel free to comment with any thoughts you might have! It's always nice to hear from you guys! And I promise I'll be back with a sewing post soon. What have you guys been up to this week?<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-69696686269158374042014-07-01T21:29:00.002-05:002014-07-01T21:30:49.734-05:00Ginger, Carrot Top, Cherry- Bring It On!What's up guys?! Sunday was rough, Monday wasn't terrible (I had off of work-go figure) and today was positively normal! Hooray!<br />
<br />
My adventures yesterday consisted of visiting some family annnnnnnnnd... dyeing my hair!<br />
<br />
I've been dyeing my hair for the last 5 years, bouncing back and forth between dark brown, light brown (my natural color) and, most recently, red. I made the gigantic oops of bleaching (!) my hair before dyeing it red about 2 months ago- never again. My hair wasn't as awfully damaged as I thought it would be, but the red seeped out of my hair sooo quickly. Finally, last week i got fed up enough to admit that I needed to redye it. Like, as soon as possible. So I wiffled and I waffled between red, dark brown, red, dark brown... I took a Facebook poll (the results of which were red, of course) and I was still undecided. Until I looked at myself in the mirror last Wednesday and I just KNEW... It had to be red.<br />
<br />
Now, we all know that you're not supposed to dye your hair when it's freshly washed, which for me is only about every 8 or 9 days (more on that some other time). So I waited til Monday (hair washing day) and took my happy little butt to Sally's Beauty Supply.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HGfwE2XOOrA/U7NttXrCzzI/AAAAAAAAAnw/lDSZjFc9s10/s1600/hair+dyeing+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HGfwE2XOOrA/U7NttXrCzzI/AAAAAAAAAnw/lDSZjFc9s10/s1600/hair+dyeing+1.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Yes, that's FOUR boxes of hair dye and an 8 ounce bottle of developer- don't judge me. I have a LOT of hair. This stuff looks WICKED when it's all mixed up.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hLKdr7jpIVA/U7NuDjhOULI/AAAAAAAAAn4/MMeXtCf3ozM/s1600/hair+dyeing+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hLKdr7jpIVA/U7NuDjhOULI/AAAAAAAAAn4/MMeXtCf3ozM/s1600/hair+dyeing+2.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
And then you just paint it on like you're painting a house! Kind of. And then you wait...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d3xm6RkBAPY/U7NuNCwhXiI/AAAAAAAAAoA/H4Rv2napOUA/s1600/hair+dyeing+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-d3xm6RkBAPY/U7NuNCwhXiI/AAAAAAAAAoA/H4Rv2napOUA/s1600/hair+dyeing+4.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And maybe eat a hot dog. :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vb3iDD1GSf4/U7NuXOZ6EzI/AAAAAAAAAoI/rzdiJDcCp_w/s1600/hair+dyeing+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vb3iDD1GSf4/U7NuXOZ6EzI/AAAAAAAAAoI/rzdiJDcCp_w/s1600/hair+dyeing+3.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Once you've waited long enough (and I wait a looong time) you get to rinse it out and have fun with your great new hair color! It's like magic! :) Unfortunately you'll have to wait for updated pictures as I had to work this morning and then had to super glue my thumbnail back together (no bueno). Tomorrow perhaps, when I show you what I did with my nifty little denim jacket from Wal-mart! Until then... have a good Tuesday!<br />
<br />
<br />
Much love always!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-17388669210719781732014-06-28T14:42:00.000-05:002014-07-20T02:34:50.308-05:00Glasses, remember?What's up kids?! I get to work tonight! Yippee! Color me all kinds of excited.<br />
<br />
Anywho, remember those glasses I talked about in <a href="http://lavieenfonctiondemoi.blogspot.com/2014/06/what-im-obsessing-over-this-week.html" target="_blank">this post</a>? I was reading up another blog I just recently discovered (<a href="http://makingniceinthemidwest.com/" target="_blank">Making Nice In The Midwest</a>) and noticed this little advertisement for BonLook. In all honesty, I don't think I've ever heard of them before, but I am so happy I finally did!<br />
<br />
They're a lot like the company I purchased my last pair of glasses from (<a href="https://www.warbyparker.com/" target="_blank">Warby Parker</a>) in that their frames have a sort of geek-chic, vintage inspired look- which I LOVE! And there's a minimal price difference- only five dollars more, for a grand total of $99! Super amazing!<br />
<br />
So when I saw...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a11NoYhwFQo/U68ZFK2FWAI/AAAAAAAAAng/ZYBkgUC6m7Q/s1600/DolledUp_DreamyTortoise_Front.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-a11NoYhwFQo/U68ZFK2FWAI/AAAAAAAAAng/ZYBkgUC6m7Q/s1600/DolledUp_DreamyTortoise_Front.jpg" height="165" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.bonlook.com/eyewear/dolled#Dreamy-Tortoise" target="_blank">This pair!</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was so, so in love! I have the cat eye sunglasses and I adore the shape, so when it was time to start thinking about glasses it occurred to me that maybe the cat eye shape could work for eye glasses as well! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Obviously I have some time to think about it (i.e.- time to save up money), but I'm pretty sold on these at the moment! What do you guys think? Yay or nay for the cat eye glasses? :) Ta ta for now! Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Much love always!</div>
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-16752866428664972322014-06-28T00:08:00.002-05:002014-06-28T00:08:56.387-05:00A Finished Product: Done With My Dress Refashion!Hiya! Hopefully you all had a pretty spectacular Thursday. As for me, I got to work a whole bunch. You know, refilling drinks and running food and whatnot. Should I decide to write a book it would probably be titled 'The Exciting Life of a 22 Year Old Waitress'. Take note, folks. This is fascinating stuff. :)<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So today's post is the final installment of my dress refashion! I'm crazy excited to share the finished product with you!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Okay, so when I left off the other day all that needed to be done was to finish sewing up the sleeves and to alter the neckline. I wanted to keep the scoop neck, but lower it a bit. So I used that nifty little tip I showed you the other day and cut some notches in the fabric to maintain that lovely rounded shape. ( I also forgot to take a picture of that process- my bad!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3s-pnEsKM8s/U65Ml8NW_zI/AAAAAAAAAnI/NpSemqtM5A0/s1600/20140627_234412%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3s-pnEsKM8s/U65Ml8NW_zI/AAAAAAAAAnI/NpSemqtM5A0/s1600/20140627_234412%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PEc-SK6D1Uk/U65NB-AiYsI/AAAAAAAAAnQ/6XogFwBdJBQ/s1600/20140627_234419%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PEc-SK6D1Uk/U65NB-AiYsI/AAAAAAAAAnQ/6XogFwBdJBQ/s1600/20140627_234419%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And voila! So much more adorable than it was when I bought it- at least, I think so. To be honest, I was super worried about the neckline, but I really love how it turned out! The waist is a little higher than I would like and the front of the skirt hangs just a bit...weird. So I'm toying with the idea of making a sash with the trimmings. Let me know what you think! Otherwise I'm so so pleased with how it finished up! I don't do patterns and I don't really measure stuff so I'm always a wee bit terrified that my projects are going to turn out grotesque. But today is not that day! :)<br />
<br />
Next up is that denim jacket I mentioned the other day. Stay tuned on that front. It should be interesting! What are you guys working on this weekend? Any special projects or crafts on the horizon? :)<br />
<br />
Much love always!</div>

<br />
I don't know about you, but I am such an internet troll. Trolling my favorite store's online counterparts, reading my favorite blogs, educating myself on various subjects- I get a little obsessed. :) So I thought maybe I would start sharing with you some of the things I'm obsessing over on a weekly basis. Who knows, it might lead you to a little obsessing of your own!<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Breckelles-Women-Blazer-11-Boots-Camel/dp/B00FNHMVPW/ref=sr_1_32?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1403659276&sr=1-32" target="_blank">These</a> boots. Ugh! To die for! I'm most definitely getting that camel colored pair.</li>
<li>New glasses! It's been about 4 years since I got my last pair so I think it's time for an update. Right now I'm particularly feeling <a href="https://www.warbyparker.com/eyeglasses/women/finch/violet-magnolia" target="_blank">this</a> pair from Warby Parker. </li>
<li>I'm a die hard NBA fan, and a Heat fan in particular, so <a href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2014/06/24/lebron-james-opt-out-miami-heat-free-agent/11303749/" target="_blank">this</a> news is mega devastating. Don't do it, King James! Don't do it!</li>
<li><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas" target="_blank">Christmas!</a> Don't ask me why, but when I'm enduring these long, awful Wisconsin winters I'm always pining for summer. Then suddenly (usually somewhere mid-summer) I find myself yearning for the holiday season. It's a vicious, vicious cycle.</li>
<li><a href="https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB0QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FWhyBartendersandServersHateSomePeople&ei=okmqU9i7AdisyAT984DABg&usg=AFQjCNHQMUXEbPpexZvOMbhWCC0F6GWQZg&sig2=BkYOgg-_eZztUGKW0-3TmA&bvm=bv.69620078,d.aWw" target="_blank">This Facebook page</a>. As a waitress it's pretty ridiculous how many of these I can relate to. If I wasn't laughing at them I'd probably be a really angry server!</li>
<li>Lisa Lambe! And mainly, her <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/100908847875288691/" target="_blank">hair</a>. Ooh! Color me all kinds of jealous!</li>
</ul>
<div>
These, plus my numerous sewing projects mean you have a pretty clear idea of where my head is going to be all week long! :) What are you guys obsessing lately?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And now a funny meme!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-41HAkSp4pB0/U6pMfoWgJJI/AAAAAAAAAm4/5xVHzma5IXQ/s1600/will+ferrell.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-41HAkSp4pB0/U6pMfoWgJJI/AAAAAAAAAm4/5xVHzma5IXQ/s1600/will+ferrell.jpg" height="319" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Have a good day everyone! Much love always!</div>

<br />
Hopefully everyone's day was absolutely fantastic! It was first night back to work so I kind of skipped out on the sewing today (don't hate me!) and decided to do a little movie review!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oD2UBfVZqTE/U6oitNkpOKI/AAAAAAAAAmo/dVA0XjqsdV0/s1600/walk+of+shame.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oD2UBfVZqTE/U6oitNkpOKI/AAAAAAAAAmo/dVA0XjqsdV0/s1600/walk+of+shame.jpg" height="320" width="217" /></a></div>
<br />
Walk of Shame is a movie starring Elizabeth Banks and James Marsden. The story is of a woman (Banks) who spends an incredibly rough night enduring the world's longest (while hilarious) walk of shame after a drunk night with a stranger (Marsden). Our main girl, Megan, is a news anchor in line for a gigantic promotion when her fiancee leaves her. When her friends come around to show her a night on the town she gets word that her promotion has gone to someone else. After countless rounds of shots and a crazy night with Gordon (Marsden), Megan learns that her bosses have changed their tune and the promotion is hers!... As long as she can get to news station and perform the most important newscast of her life under the scrutiny of her superiors. The next 12 or so hours that follow are filled with some of the wildest, funniest, most ridiculous mishaps ever to grace a silver screen. We find our heroine (questionable title) everywhere from a crack house in the hood to a Jewish Chabad. To be sure there's no shortage of fun and laughs in Walk of Shame, combined with the just right amount of misery on Banks' account which makes this movie a definite oughta-watch if you're needing a laugh. :)<br />
<br />
What movies have you guys gotten into lately? Leave any noteworthy titles and thoughts in the comments below!<br />
<br />

Much love always!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-366717819702625542014-06-23T23:35:00.000-05:002014-06-23T23:39:05.510-05:00A Dress Refashion? Don't Mind If I Do!Hi guys! Here I am again!<br />
It's been a bit of a lazy day. I just got back from vacation on Saturday! A little more tan, definitely tired, but sooo much fun. Now the unpacking... Gag me with a spoon!<br />
<br />
So about the dress! I procrastinated working on it until mid-afternoon-ish (procrastination is probably one of my top ten talents). I started with cutting the bottom to bring the hem up about 4-5 inches.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h6JsWxSoOJE/U6j9aVdCFCI/AAAAAAAAAmE/4sBzeCt-PKk/s1600/20140623_173547%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h6JsWxSoOJE/U6j9aVdCFCI/AAAAAAAAAmE/4sBzeCt-PKk/s1600/20140623_173547%5B1%5D.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
A little tip- when sewing rounded edges like this, cutting little notches on the edge of the fabric every few inches really helps with keeping everything the right length and preventing the fabric from looking all... bunch-y. :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YMTAx5De0Ys/U6j-BVxes0I/AAAAAAAAAmM/wKUmI4jFztM/s1600/20140623_174621%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YMTAx5De0Ys/U6j-BVxes0I/AAAAAAAAAmM/wKUmI4jFztM/s1600/20140623_174621%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
My least favorite part- pinning the hem! Ugh! It takes me forever. (Help, anyone?)<br />

(Ignore my fat arms. *Sigh*)<br />
<br />
So much better! The sleeves need to be finished and I haven't touched the neckline, but I'm already super excited to see the finished product! :)<br />
<br />
I also started pinning up a denim jacket I got from Wal-mart a couple years ago- two projects at once! This will be a first, working on multiple items at the same time. I'll be sure to post about the jacket, too! Check back soon!<br />

Plus: A Dress Refashion PreviewWell hello! You thought I was dead, didn't you?<br />
Just kidding. You probably just thought that I had forsaken my dear little blog! Well, I did. But no more! Truth be told, I MISS blogging. I miss sending little tidbits of sweetness out into cyberspace and hoping it reaches someone's heart.
So I'm back! To hopefully pick up where I left off and maybe move in a new direction. :)<br />
<br />
And on that note... Some sewing!<br />

I found this funky little dress at Goodwill and bought it on a whim, hoping to try my hand a little refashioning. I've been on a serious alterations kick for the last month or so here- darts, re-sizing, hemming, etc. I think I paid $4.50 for this dress, so IF it doesn't turn out there's no love lost. I liked the general shape of the dress (fit and flare + A-line?), the cutesy retro print and, of course, the pockets! I definitely want to change the neckline, the sleeves and the length. I'm thinking maybe lose the sleeves and make it a tank dress so it's easy to layer in the winter time, as well as enjoying it during these <i>scalding</i> summer months we have here in Wisconsin. ;)<br />
Work on the dress begins tomorrow! Stay tuned for what's sure to be a remarkable transformation... hopefully. :)<br />
p.s. A lot of my older blog posts are kind of all over the place, not really relevant or just plain silly. I thought about deleting them, but decided against it because they sort of document the progression of this blog. Let me know what you think!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06238210054024519350noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-837808972442166196.post-38639411152893537412012-05-08T19:11:00.000-05:002012-05-08T19:12:00.901-05:00Hey guyssss....
